Swedish Language Café at The Cell
Would you like to practise Swedish in an inspiring setting? At The Cell’s Swedish Language Café, we explore themes in life science, health and art through research, exhibitions and objects.
Each session gives you the opportunity to practise speaking and listening to Swedish in informal conversations, build confidence in expressing yourself with others, discover fascinating topics in research, health and art, and expand your vocabulary related to health.
Every session takes current art or research as its starting point. You will receive a vocabulary list related to the theme, along with language support to help you discuss the topic.
No previous knowledge is required. The Language Café is open to anyone curious about language, art and science.
Coffee and refreshments are provided. The conversation runs from 16:00 to 17:00, with the option to stay until 18:00 to continue talking or explore the exhibition on your own.

Autumn programme and themes

Theme: Finding a job in Sweden
Finding a job is about more than writing a good CV. How does the Swedish labour market actually work – and what are the unwritten rules?
Meet recruitment expert Anna Rennermalm, who specialises in recruiting academics within life science and holds a PhD in clinical bacteriology from Karolinska Institutet.
Anna will share practical advice on CVs and job applications, as well as insights into things that can be harder to navigate: workplace culture, networking and what the path to finding a job in Sweden can actually look like.
This session is suitable for anyone looking for a job or wanting to better understand the Swedish labour market. If you have a background in medicine or the natural sciences, you will also have the opportunity to benefit from Anna’s specialist expertise in life science.
There will be plenty of time for questions and conversation.
