Scientist shows art: Giulia Gaudenzi
On November 20, The Cell welcomes researcher Giulia Gaudenzi to the program series Researchers Present Art – an evening where art and science intertwine to reveal new ways of seeing the world.
The conversation takes its starting point in the exhibition Me You We – Exploring Human Behaviour and is followed by a creative origami workshop exploring the connection between scientific inquiry and artistic creation.
About Giulia Gaudenzi
Giulia Gaudenzi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet and a researcher in the Division of Nanobiotechnology at SciLifeLab, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Her research focuses on developing accessible diagnostics for healthcare in resource-limited settings, aiming to improve global health.
During the evening, Giulia will share insights from her research and reflect on how art can open new perspectives on scientific questions.
She serves on the board of the Swedish Organization for Global Health and is a member of Karolinska Institutet’s Cultural Council.
Science Origami Workshop with Samayeen Rahman
Following the talk, Samayeen Rahman, a Master’s student in Biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet, leads a workshop where science meets paper art.
Through origami – the art of paper folding – Samayeen explores how patterns, geometry, and biology are interconnected.
For her, origami is more than a craft; it is a way of understanding the forms of science through creativity.
Participants will have the chance to create their own pieces inspired by natural structures and scientific principles.
